Worsley hides rich heritage amongst its luscious woodland and canalside walks. It offers a breath of tranquillity, somehow hidden from the bustle of the city.

Best Views:

  • RHS Bridgewater: A 154 acre garden maintained by the Royal Horticultural Society. It's a beautiful area, and you could easily spend all day there. It is a paid attraction, so look up prices before you go. But I highly recommend it on a beautiful summer day.
  • Worsley Delph: A gorgeous little area in the centre of the village. Each area has plenty of extra information on plaques which give you insight into a history the locals are clearly proud of.
  • Worsley Woods: Surrounding Worsley is a ring of converted railway lines that now form a great series of forest walks.
  • Bridgewater Canal: One of the first canals in Manchester. It runs straight into the heart of Manchester, and out towards Leigh. It has a cycle path running alongside it the whole way.

Amenities:

  • Parking: Parking is available in the town and is pay and display.
  • Toilets: Many cafés/pubs have easy access toilets.
  • Eating: There are plenty of cafés and pubs you can visit within the town, and I have yet to find a bad one!
  • Play Area: RHS Bridgewater has a dedicated outdoor play area that is very popular with families. However, you will have to pay for entry. They often have half-term activities for kids as well.

There are several pubs in the area providing parking, if you're happy to get a drink. The best spot is the village car park opposite the courthouse. It is pay and display, but is available all day every day.
